Arisaka Defense Offset Scout Mount Review

If you read my previous article [www.rainierarms.com/blog/scout-ultimate-ar-weapon-light/] about Scout lights, then you're aware that I'm a huge fan of the 600 pattern lights because of their capability and versatility. If you didn't, well, now you're aware. Anyway, one of the key components of a Scout light is the mount. Many companies make aftermarket mounts for the Scout lights, but so far, my favorite mount is the Arisaka Defense Offset Scout Mount. [caption id="attachment_1250" align="alignnone" width="5184"]45 degree Offset Mount The 45 degree cant of the Offset Scout Mount helps tuck it in against your rail[/caption] When you first glance at the Offset Scount Mount (OSM), it's honestly quite unassuming. Just a piece of metal with a 45 degree cant to it, really. Its strength lies in its capability. The OSM is designed to maximize your options while minimizing your light's bulk.  Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, the mount is less than a quarter of an inch thick and weighs only 0.4 ounces. The cant of the mount helps to tuck the light into the often unusable space between MLOK flats. In turn, this reduces the distance the light protrudes from the centerline of the rifle. If you're trying to minimize snag hazards on your rifle, the OSM is a solid step in the right direction. To add to the versatility, the mount features four mounting points for the flashlight body. The distance from the innermost mounting point to the outermost is approximately 0.25-0.3 inches. This allows you to shift the flashlight body as needed to avoid sights or other accessories that might be in the way. I tend to stick with one of the two center mounting points, and it works very well around my front sight. It fits my needs perfectly and the workmanship is excellent. If you're in the market for a mount, head over to the Rainier store [Arisaka Offset Scout Mount - M-Lok] and pick one up. You'll be glad you did. I hope this has been helpful. If so, feel free to share. As always, Rainier Arms stands ready to help you Pursue Your Passion.
